The auction raised over $15,000 for education of underprivileged children in Myanmar
About the artwork: This piece was particularly challenging as Alpana was given one day to paint the two canvasses and had to do it on the spot.
On day one of the conference more than 200 delegates doodled on the canvas. On day two the artist was given the topic 'Travel...the child in me' and asked to create something. She wanted to retain the doodles and hence used a dry Brush technique with acrylic paints to paint a family setting out on a holiday. Alpana added small iconic landmarks from all over the world with many temples from Myanmar as the proceeds from the auction were going to benefit underprivileged children from Myanmar.
Lastly she added tiny green footprints all over to convey a message to all travelers that as we travel and discover the world all we should leave behind are green footprints.
